You´ll find the tiny Lawrence Chapel right at the heart of the local graveyard. Since 1987 it has served as the town´s mortuary chapel.
There has been a church on this location ever since the Roman era. The foundations of this Roman church can still be seen in today´s masonry which are probably those of the original building. The Church has been dedicated to Saint Lawrence.
In the course of excavations mighty two meters deep foundations of hewn ashlars were exposed. The western wall comprises of reddish granite ashlars and boasts the Chapel´s most noticeable architectural feature, a Gothic-style pointed arch portal. The high altar features an elaborate altarpiece depicting Saint Lawrence.
