What does a mountain forest smell like?
What do mountain meadows taste like?
Do sunrises fire the imagination?
Does mountain cheese strut proudly up and down?
Does nature educate
Set off on a journey to find the answers to these questions and much more! Discover the Biosphere Reserve in Grosses Walsertal! The people who work and live in this calm, romantically wild mountain valley are innovative and yet conscious of their traditions – and they consider the interaction between society, the economy, ecology and culture. This has helped the valley to gain, among other accolades, a UNESCO seal of approval for the “Biosphere Reserve”.
Discover this natural valley, left untouched with its Alps and mountain peaks, steep gorges, many roaring streams, waterfalls and the clear waters of the Seewald lake. 250 km of sign-posted hiking paths and special educational paths invite visitors to discovery journeys rich in new experiences. Issue forth on the flower educational path, the forest educational path and on guided tours in the nature reserve of Gadental, where the rich variety of orchids within a unique Alpine landscape will inspire you. Specially-trained Adventure Biosphere Reserve supervisors show groups how to learn from and with nature using hands-on methods.
The Emperor and the Alpine Mountaineer
Experienced mountain guides accompany you into the sunrise on a mountain peak, where early bird hikers are rewarded with an Emperor’s breakfast. Allow yourself to be led to the Sommeralpen (summer Alps), where tasty mountain cheese is still being made in the traditional manner. Or what about an Alpine mountaineer breakfast in the Steris Alp? A special attraction for nature gourmets! Why not stay overnight in the **** hotel and let yourself be pampered like an Emperor – or get to experience the life of an Alpine mountaineer in a mountain hut?
