Westendorf is located on a lovely plateau at an altitude of 800m above sea level, far from busy traffic routes. The stunning mountainscape (up to 2,400m) and beautiful Windau Valley offer innumerable walking and mountain bike routes and many places to retreat and relax. In addition, Westendorf is home to shops, cafes, restaurants with outdoor dining areas, and walking trails.

Every Thursday the town center is being turned into a car-free zone: demonstration of ancient crafts and trades, food stalls, live music (July to September, in the afternoon and evening).
