Strassen is a large settlement with scattered buildings and has 900 inhabitants. It is located partly on a sunny hill and partly in a vale. The town consists of nine hamlets: Strassen, Messensee, Fronstadel, Hintenburg, Bichl, Heising, Bach, Hof, and Tassenbach.

The steep mountain meadows and Alpine pastures are still mown by hand today. There's a relaxed pace and always someone willing to lend a hand or offer a bit of friendly advice. And hospitality is not only genuine, but generous as well. That's life in the mountains.
