Schalchen
The tranquil village of Schalchen lies at the heart of Braunau District and is crossed by the River Schwemmbach.
Schalchen's main draw is the picturesque town square with its modern fountain and old parish church which accommodates works by the famous sculptor Thomas Schwanthaler.
Active guests will enjoy Schalchen's tennis courts, cycleways, hiking trails and the fitness center. Brunnbach Brook is popular with fly-fishers who appreciate the crystal-clear waters and pristine setting.
The Local Heritage Museum boasts some 1,000 exhibits which offer insight into Upper Austria’s rural life.
