Tauplitz in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut area is located on a plateau surrounded by summits of the foothills of the Tote Gebirge mountain range. South of Tauplitz the skier´s and hiker´s paradise is restricted by the Grimming chalk summit (2,351m).
Worth seeing are the 6-lake plateau at high altitude, the Tauplitzalm alpine pasture, and the Tauplitz waterfall. The traditional St. Nicholas game on Dec, 5th is joyous for kids and adults alike.
The largest natural ski jump, the Kulm, is also worth a visit; so are the parish church, the church on the Tauplitzalm alpine pasture and the 4-seater chairlift to the Taupltiz.
The Tauplitzalm hiking and skiing area is the trainings center for the world-cup cross-country skiers. Snow shoe hiking, horse-drawn sleigh rides, winter riding, darts, ice-climbing, bob sleigh rides, and a torch-lit slope make holidays in Tauplitz unique.
