Tirol, which was called "Land im Gebirge" (Land in the Mountains) in medieval times -- is a Dorado for lovers of winter sports and of mountains. Highlights include Innsbruck (two-time host of the Olympics), St. Anton/Arlberg (host of the Ski World Cup), Kitzbühel (venue of the famous Hahnenkamm ski race), Seefeld (host of the Air&Style snowboard contest). There is an great number of climbing- and hiking trails, farmhouses and handicraft museums, quaint villages, plus sights such as the Wattens Crystal World and events like the Innsbruck Dance Summer. A vacation in Tirol is an unforgettable experience.
