LAKE ATTERSEE
Lake Attersee with its 46,7 km² is the biggest lake of Austria. It is 20 km long, 2-3 km wide and up to 171 m deep.
The lake is located between the foothills of the Alps in the north and the romantic Höllengebirge mountain range (1862 m) and the Schafberg mountain (1783 m) in the south. The excellent quality of its water and the warm temperature are just some of the reasons why this lake is so popular. On sunny days the lake reflects the most beautiful colors ranging from deep green to bright blue.

The Höllengebirge / Hell´s Mountain Range is very popular amongst passionate hikers. And so are the Hochlecken mountain, the Schoberstein mountain and the Schafberg mountain. Being active is an excellent way to gain a fresh perspective on life, to stretch your limits and to enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful mountain scenery.
You can also choose less demanding hiking tours to the Eisenauer Alm or the Gahberg mountain; you can also just walk around Lake Attersee in 5 days. If you wish, a guide will go with you and we can also arrange the transfer of your luggage. The nature reserve on the Eglsee is really worth visiting.
