Thanks to a hot sulfur spring, gushing out of a 2300m deep source, more than 650 houses in Altheim are heated by geothermal energy since 1989.

The Ache brook is running right through Altheim´s beautiful town center and ranks among Upper Austria´s cleanest waters featuring rich fishing grounds.

An outstanding place with outstanding people! 2000 years ago the first Roman settlement was established in Altheim. Archaeological findings prove the existence of two ancient Roman manor houses. A great number of precious relics have been found and are exhibited, among other interesting findings, at the "Ochzethouse" historical museum
