In 1124 Maria Neustift, founded by the Garsten Monastery, was first mentioned in historical documents.
Today´s parish church, consecrated in 1898, has become a popular place of pilgrimage featuring a precious statue of the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus, dating back to 1450, with a golden ribbon and religious inscriptions.
