The municipalities of Jedenspeigen and Sierndorf do not only touch one of the most precious parts of the March river floodplains, but also offer a very attractive mosaic of nature, culture with its charming villages located on the sunny hills of the Weinviertel. When walking through the idyllic cellar lane of Jedenspeigen, one reaches the castle of Jedenspeigen.
This impressing Renaissance building dating back to the 16th century accommodates a well arranged documentation about a crucial medieval battle between King Ottokar and Rudolf of Habsburg. A signposted circular route leads along the "March"embankment to Sierndorf, where the visitor has the possibilitiy to take a side trip to the river March. A walk around the so called "horseshoe" is highly recommended, a paradise for water birds, frogs and fish.
In Sierndorf, the museum of local history, situated in the old elementary school, welcomes you with interesting object founds from the pre-historic to the new time. Setting the mood for a rest in the very old historic wine cellars are the old press houses built into the soil on the attractive "Kellerberg", while tasting the good wines of the region.
In any case, those taking a rest at the "Kellerberg" in Jedenspeigen or Sierndorf will not be disappointed by the quality of the wine which they might have seen growing on the "Goldberg"!
