Straß im Straßertale

The famous wine-growing municipalitiy Straß im Straßertale is located between the Waldviertel and the Weinviertel regions, close to Krems (Wachau).

The excellent wines of Straß have won many awards at wine fairs - not only in Austria, but also abroad. Thus, Straß has happened to be one of the most famous wine-growing villages of Austria for many decades already. In the five villages of Straß: Elsarn, Wiedendorf, Obernholz and Diendorf/Walde, you can take in the beauty of nature as well as choose from various possibilities of spending your leisure time.

Wine and culture

The wine growing and barrel-maker museum shows everything around the wine, ranging from work in the vineyards up to the fermentation of the wine in the barrel.
In the vinotheque, you can taste the best wines of Straß.
Straß already exists for more than 7000 years - more information about this is exhibited in an interesting historical exhibition in the primary school and in the Germanic Grange in Elsarn.
A unique fossile show in Obernholz looks back into yet more distant milleniums.
