... probably derives from "Alber", a white poplar tree. The town's byname "in der Riedmark' refers to its affiliation with the former Riedmark, an area extending from the Haselgraben valley down Sarmingbach River, and from the bends in the Moldau River to the Danube. Additionally, Alberndorf's heraldic symbol shows a branch with two poplar leaves. Three different colors symbolize the fertile landscapes (green), the tiled house roofs (red) and the ripe ears of corn (gold).
