The main square of Retz is one of the most beautiful and largest of Austria. Take a look at the scenery, the "Verderberhaus" in Venetian Renaissance style, the Baroque and Biedermeier buildings, and you will feel like on a southern Piazza.
The main square can also be crossed underground. The adventure cellar of Retz is the largest wine cellar of Middle Europe. 21 km long and 30 m deep is this large, connected cellar, where 500 years ago, the whole wine stocks of the entire region were stored.
This historical corn mill, visible already from afar, stands above the town, at the eastern foothills of the Bohemian mass. It is Austria's only remaining working windmill which can be visited within a guided tour.
