At the federal road B49, between Rabensburg and Bernhardsthal, the ancient hill tombs, so-called 'tumuli', lie. Take a walk and enjoy a boat tour at the largest landscape lake of the Weinviertel in Bernhardsthal, or enjoy exploring the mighty river woodlands to both sides of the Thaya river.
Lookout point Hutsaulberg and Wartberg
On sunny days, the "light point" at the Hutsaulberg offers you insights into what gave this region its name:
To the East, Slovakia, to the North, the Czech Republic and all around the hilly landscape of the border triangle country. At the southern slope of this inclination, Altlichtenwarth, one of the romantic little villages lies to which the north-eastern corner of Lower Austria owes its charme. Tradition and history melt with modern wine production. The recently renovated wine shop "Pforakeller", run by a group of young wine growers - the wine growing community "Silberfloh" - excellent quality wines from the local surroundings are offered.
By bike, on foot or by car - many routes lead up to the Wartberg vantage point in the vineyards of Großkrut. In 1911, a vantage point had been created. After necessary demolition, the year 2000 saw the creation of a new tower according to the plans of the original tower.
South Moravian cross Drasenhofen, Ruin Falkenstein
Next to our neighbouring countries, the sun is shining most of the time.
From the Schweinbarth hill with its famous Moravian cross to the north, the might castle of Nikolsburg/Mikulov rises, opening up the view into the southern region of the Moravian country, Slovakia or even down to the Schneeberg mountain in the South-West corner of Lower Austria.
Above the wine village Falkenstein, its ruin still towers as a distinguished witness from the past. It has been built in 1050 as a borderline wall. Opening hours: April 1 - October 31, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays from 2.00 - 6.00 p.m., guided tours at 3.00 p.m. and 4.30 p.m., or at other times after arrangement.
