The garden of Europe
The park region between Breclav/Lundenburg, the neo-Gothic castle Lednice/Eisgrub and the Baroque mansion of Valtice/Felsberg in South Moravia
The region of South Moravia is World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO. With its mighty castles, châteux and park areas, it deserves to be called the 'largest composed park landscape of Europe'.
The castle Eisgrub is a former summer residence and is intrinsically linked to the palm house. Built during the years of 1843-1845, it is the first of its kind on the European continent. Today, it hosts a rich collection of tropical and subtropical plants.
During the 14th century, the Liechtenstein dynasty gained the town Valtice/Feldberg. After becoming the ruling dynasty in the 17th century, the ruling prince of the Liechtenstein made the town his residence. The family only moved to the principality of Liechtenstein in 1938. The castle, a mighty early Baroque building, counts among the most impressive buildings of its kind in Moravia.
