Hennesteck
Half-day hike, offering a magnificent view into the distance yet little demanding
From the church in Annaberg, start along the hiking route nr. 46 north through the woods with interesting rocks down a mountain saddle, then along an ascending private road to the watershed at the White Cross. If you have extra time (1 hour), take a diversion towards Schwarzenbach an der Pielach down to the "Wooden Church". Back to the watershed and continue through the woods until you reach an alpine pasture, less dense woodlands and rather rocky paths which will guide you up the top of the Hennesteck mountain. It offers a magnificent view into the distance, especially over the Ötscher mountain. The path, until recently marked in red, now takes on a yellow colour during descent, joins the blue-marked "4er" in the area of the Reidl hut, closing the route back to Annaberg.
The total walking distance without the "Wooden Church" is about 4 hours.
