Wehrkirche

Already the Romans benefited from the convenient location on the hill and built a temple on this site.

The original Romanesque church (1076) was rebuilt in Gothic style in the 15th century. Later on, in the 18th century, it was concerted into Baroque style and a choir was added. The church is surrounded by well preserved fortified walls from the times of the HUngarian and Turkish invasions. Romanesque and Gothic frescoes by Thomas of Villach and the Danube School, various sculptures, paintings of the Tiffener Auferstehung (Tiffen resurrection - 1520). The outer wall boasts inscriptions and reliefs from the Roman times, Tiffener Auferstehung (Prof. Piccottini 1987) in the Aufbahrungsstube (old vicarage courtyard), War Memorial by Prof. Suitbert Lobisser. New vicarage courtyard: former school, the house where Prof. Suitbert Lobisser was born.
